Since
the early years Lagos has been of great importance to
Portugal. Due to its location (right in front of Africa)
several ships departed from Lagos in search of new
lands.
Lagos has both historical and touristic
sides. In Lagos you can see beautiful beaches, historical
monuments and enjoy the night...it has lots of pubs and
clubs. People from the United Kingdom will feel right at
home with several Irish pubs crowding the place...it is
common to hear the english language all over the streets
the whole year.
In Lagos you can practise all sort of
water sports: windsurf, water skiing,etc... and this
lovely place in Algarve hasn´t forget all of you golf
lovers as well. Please remember to visit all the beaches
in Lagos: Meia praia ( in english named Half
beach...curious thing because the beach is quite big),
Dona Ana, Canavial, Luz and more. There are hourly guided
tours by boat to visit the grottos...and even dolphins at
high sea( highly recommended). It's also worth
considering a visit at Easter, as the climate is very dry,
and it's an excellent time of year to brush up on your
tennis and golfing skills.
The city has lots of tourists
all
year, mainly, English and German. There is a wide range of
accommodation available in several reasonably quiet
resorts along the coast.
